Our new season is well under way, with last year’s membership firmly in place and new members joining. We took part last month in our Area’s annual ‘Chatterbox’ competition. An all-female team of Sue Hanger, Ruth Redmond and Emma Thompson took on this year’s theme ‘Triumph and Disaster’, and described the ups and downs of women’s underwear; an unusual take on broad subject (for the result of the competition please see our website).
Ruth Redmond gave us an entertaining and humorous speech about a family holiday in Venice. As a building surveyor she was fascinated by the construction of the city, but the beautiful architecture was lost on her teenage sons until one of them declared that he recognised some of the streets. This was puzzling, because they had never visited before, until it transpired he knew them from a video game! Mercifully, in the real city there are no armed villains jumping out from random alleyways to shoot you.
Sue Hanger led a short Topics session inviting members to tell funny stories about family relatives, not easy at short notice but Eileen Fox rose to the challenge, invited to talk about her Mum.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, September to May. To see us in action come along to Karter’s Café, 20, Church Street, Lutterworth, 7.30-9.30 pm. Guests and visitors are most welcome.
