APRIL 2015

Rose quartz, snowflake obsidian, tiger eye, agate; Sue Hanger brought a variety of semi-precious stones in to Lutterworth Speakers Club to spark a fascinating and challenging topics session.  The stones have various qualities assigned to them, such as love, strength, calmness, that we had to improvise upon. This was quite tricky, and some diverted into talking about mud.

This followed an informative speech by new member Charles Ray entitled ‘SPARKling Collaboration’ – how to achieve results in the workplace. SPARK is his acronym for remembering how to best approach and tackle a project and keep it on track.

Back in March a number of club members attended the 2015 ASC Midlands District Speaking Competitions – three competitions wrapped round a good meal. Lutterworth member Eileen Fox had won through previous rounds in the Topics Contest, and for the District challenge she had to improvise on ‘Colours’. This she did in admirable style, taking weddings as her theme, but sadly she did not win. It’s tough near the top of Association of Speakers Clubs‘ competitions!

For details of forthcoming dates check our website  www.LutterworthSpeakersClub.com   We meet at the Greyhound Inn, Lutterworth, 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, 7.30 – 9.30, but we take a summer break from June. Or for details ring Maggie Barlow on 01455 207774.
