September 3rd will see the start of the new season for Lutterworth Speakers Club. We exist to help people develop or improve their public speaking skills in a safe, friendly and fun environment. At their own pace, members who choose to can work their way through the various speaking assignments to obtain a certificate from the Association of Speakers Clubs.
Our usual club nights are an informal mix of speeches with evaluations, readings, and an impromptu topics session. What do we talk about? Anything and everything (apart from the ‘unholy trinity’ of sex, religion and politics). Our members have a huge range of interests and experiences, from animal welfare to the marine environment through engineering, keeping fit, DIY and art. We’re always learning something new.
Throughout the year we also mingle with our other local Area clubs, and compete against them in speaking competitions.
We meet 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month. If you are interested in seeing us in action, please come along to Karter’s Café, 20, Church Street, Lutterworth, on 3rd September, 7.30-9.30pm. Guests and visitors are most welcome. For further information ring Maggie Barlow on 01455 207774 or see our website l
