‘Match’

What could you find to talk about the word ‘match’?

One of the disciplines of speaking is to produce a short three minute speech on a given subject with no preparation time.  A word is presented as you enter the room and you have from the door to the lectern to create a speech to deliver. The given word was ‘match’;  Eileen chose to speak about local events, Allan H about camping, Sue about the importance of matching skills in reading, Dave about life before central heating and Allan R about the match between Liverpool and Everton.  What would you choose to speak about?

Congratulations to Allan H who has won the area competitions in all three disciplines in competitive speaking.  He will now go forward to regional finals in a few weeks’ time.  We wish him continued success.

Margaret, one of our long standing and valuable members, is leaving for new adventures in Scotland.  Whilst wishing her all happiness for her future we will miss her enthusiasm and wise counsel.
